We had the plumbing poltergeist visit last Saturday. I was drinking my coffee while trying to get my laptop to work. Microsoft had just updated windows and of course I was once again staring at the black screen of death. Then I heard a commotion in the bathroom. It seems the float hung up after the last flush and water was pouring out of the tank. Luckily Linda heard the water and got the supply line turned off. Ok, problem fixed and I was back to the computer. Linda was in the kitchen and called “Dan, come look at this.” Yikes what’s the problem now? The problem was that the dishwasher was leaking all over the kitchen and dining room floor. So I pulled the DW out and find that the drain hose had failed. Great. Next, I was in the powdering room washing my hands and water started squirting out from the spigot handle. Damn. And finally, I was in the kitchen cooking (we were having friends over for dinner). As I started to clean up my mess the sink wouldn’t drain. Really...I couldn’t make this stuff up. By the way, have I said recently that I hate plumbing.
As a followup we decided to install a new dishwasher since the old one was 16 years old, were going to replace the toilet (it never really worked right), and the leaky fixture is 30 years old so it's time for a new one. It took me three days to get the computer working again.
I have two photos of wild flowers taken at the observatory. The first is a wild beach pea and the second is an onion flower.
